An item reported that was decided to reduce the British naval force present in the Baltic with 1 light cruiser and 2 destroyers leaving that 4 light cruisers and 4 destroyers. The number of 4 cruisers was to be maintained until the situation cleared. Rear admiral Sir C. Ferguson was taking over the command of the forces on 7 September 1902.
