An item reported that the 30 enemy submarines in the Atlantic Ocean were divided as follows:
-10 (a week ago 11) off the North American coastline between Cape Hatteras and a point to the eastward of the Great Banks on varying distances from the coast, 2 were in the vicinity of the Virginia Capes and 2-3 between the Virginia Capes and New York;
-3 in the Florida-Bahamas and 2 in the Caribbean-West Indies areas compared to the 7 a week ago;
-1-(just the week before) off the South American coast in the vicinity of the Guianas;
-2 eastbound and 1 westbound east and southeast of the Grand Banks;
-4 eastbound southeast of Bermuda;
-1 eastbound and 2 westbound southwest of the Azores;
-around 6 in the Rockall Area;
-2 off the West African Coast in the vicinity of Liberia.
The J.I.C. commented that it was unknown why the number of submarines decreased from 36 a week before to the 30 probably not more than a temporary fluctuation in the total number.
