The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1910-1911 reported that the British cruiser 2nd class HMS Flora (1) visited Sabang (2), Dutch East Indies between 29-30 August 1911. The Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 6 October 1911 reported a visit at Tandjong Priok, described her with a crew of 358 men (including 18 officers), coming from Colombo, Ceylon and Christmas Island bound for Samarang and commanded by Charles Cobett.(3)

1. Part of Astraea-class protected cruisers, preceded by Apollo-class, succeeded by Eclipse-class, launched by Pembroke Dock on 21 November 1893, commissioned on 24 July 1895, renamed training ship Indus II in April 1915, decommissioned in March 1922 and sold to be broken up on 12 December 1922.
2. Sabang, Dutch East Indies was important coal station for Dutch and foreign warships and merchant ships.
3. Not Cobett but Charles Frederick Corbett (21 November 1867 Dartmouth-29 January 1955), promoted to the rank of admiral on the Retired List on 22 February 1928, assumed the command over the HMS Flora on 16 September 1911 which was commissioned at Colombo and served on the China Station.
