Australian air force attacked Japanese shipping at Salamaua, New Guinea according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 11 March 1942

An item referred to an Australian press communique reported that the Australian R.A.A.F. attacked a Japanese warship and four other vessels at Salamaua. The warships which was believed to be a cruiser or a large destroyer was believed to be damaged. Of the other vessels seemed 2 to be sinking and one beached.
