An item reported that directly after the bombardment of Kiska, Aleutians stopped on 8 August a Tomozuru-class torpedo boat (1) departed the harbour although set on fire and probably sunk afterwards. Most of the 10-12 ships earlier sighted in the harbour were believed to be sunk. The anti aircraft defence at North Head, Kiska was out of action or even destroyed. The Japanese send reinforcements while on 13 August reconnaissance showed 13 large ships (including a very large transport) and 9 small ships lying in the harbour.
Note
1. The torpedo boat Tomozuru was part of the 544 tons (standard) Chidori-class torpedo boats, preceded by Hayabusa-class succeeded by Otori-class.
