Japanese fleet submarines I-53 – I-167 built 1927

First used for patrolling afterwards for training. Displacement of 1,635 (standard)-1,720 (normal) tons and as dimensions 97 x 7.8 x 4.82 metres. Submergence depth 60 metres. Submergence time 60 seconds. Speed 19 (surfaced)-18 (submerged) knots. Range 10,000 nautical miles/10 knots. Armament 8 torpedo tubes (6 forward 2 aft). Battery 5,000 AH-240 cells-240 V. Engines 2 cycle 6,000 shp. Medium steel semi-double (like saddle tanks) riveted hull.
