Japanese medium class patrol submarines RO-35 – Ro-50, RO-50 remains

Kaichyu type K6 sub-class submarines. Displacement of 965 (standard)-1,108 (normal)-1,190 (emergency)-1,44 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 80.5 x 7.0 x 4.0 metres. Submerged endurance nine hours/5 knots. Submergence depth 80 metres. Submergence time 50 seconds. Speed 19.7 (surfaced)-8 (suberged) knots. Armament 4 Type 95 53.3cm/21” torpedo tubes forward.  Battery 6,000 AH-240 cells-240 V. Engine 2x10 cylinder 4 cycle non-reversible supercharged totally 4,200 shp. Motors 2x600hp double armature Type 8. Crew 73 men (included 9 officers). Medium steel made riveted semi-double hull. fuel bunker capacity 216 tons. Range 5,000 nautical miles/16 knots respectively 13,000 nautical miles/12 knots. Dealing with the RO-35 she had a sail consisting of 3 vertical interecting cylinders in which the common chord struts were at the top and at the walking flat. The load was carried by the struts via vertical stiffeners outside at the traces of the intersections.
