A list reported the arrival at Bay of Islands on 12 November 1836 of the Tasmanian whaling barque Cheviot, master Bateman, tonnage 350 tons, homeport Van Diemen’s Land, Tasmania returning from the sperm oil fishery with a cargo of 1,000 tons oil.
