French light cruiser Émile Bertin 1931-1961

Preceded by Jeanne d'Arc, succeeded by La Galissonnière class. Laid down by Chantiers de Penhoët on 18 August 1931, launched on 9 May 1933, completed on 28 January 1935, decommissioned in October 1951, stricken on 27 October 1959 and broken up in 1961. Displacement 5,886 (standard)-6,530 (maximum load)-8,480 (maximum overload) and as dimensions 177 (over all)x 15.84 x 5.44 or 581 x 52.0 x 17.8 feet. Propulsion consisted of Parsons SR geared steam turbines and 6 Penhoët boilers supplying 102,000-137,908 (on trial) shp allowing a speed of 34 knots and with 15 knots a range of 6,000 nautical miles and 1,1oo nautical miles with top speed. Crew numbered 711 men. Original armament 3x3-15.2cm/6.0 guns, 1x2&2x1-9cm/3.5” anti aircraft guns, 4x2-3.7cm/1.5” anti aircraft guns. 4x2-12.3mm/0.62” anti aircraft guns, 2x3-55cm/22” torpedo tubes and 200 mines.
