Japanese cargo ship Tensan Maru or Tenzan Maru 1929-1942

Call sign JPTC. Built by Mitsui Bussan Kaisha Ld. Tama Dockyard in May 1929 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS S-37 (SS-142) around 30 miles west of Rabaul [Papua New Guinea] serving as a transport on 8 July 1942. Gross tonnage 2,776 tons, under deck 2,308 tons, net tonnage 1,588 tons and as dimensions 326.5 x 46.5 x 21.5 6.6 (light)-18 (loaded) feet. Diesel propulsion, 270 nhp, bunker oil capacity 220 tons, range around 10,500 nautical miles/10 knots and speed 10 (normal cruising)-12 (maximum) knots.
