Dutch passenger-cargo ship Tobelo 1929-1942, Japanese Tobi Maru 1942-1945

Call sign PKHI. Laid down by N.V. C. van der Giessen&Zonen’s Scheepswerven, Krimpen aan den IJssel, Netherlands with yard number 604 on 13 August 1929, launched in 1930, delivered on 25 April 1930 to the N.V. Koninklijke Paketvaart-Maatschappij (KPM), Batavia, Dutch East Indies, seized by the Japanese near Koepang on 21 February 1942 and sent to Makassar and torpedoed and sunk by the British submarine HMS Tiptoe south of Borneo on 1 June 1945.

Gross tonnage 983.00 tons, under deck 629 tons, net tonnage 684.00 tons, deadweight 589.00 tons, grain capacity 53.000 cubic feet and bale capacity 43.000 cubic feet and as dimensions 203.30 x 34.110 x 11.60 feet.
