Sister ships Katyosan Maru (1924), Katuragisan Maru (1925), Kasugasan Maru (1925) and Kasagisan Maru (1925). Call sign JHZB. Homeport Kobe, Japan. Launched by Mitsui Bussan Kaisho Ld., Uno, Japan with yard number 103 on 29 December 1924, completed on 31 July 195, in Army service as Allotted IJA No. 41 between 30 July 937-1 April 1939, again in Army service between ?-1943, in navy service as a B-AK Ippan Choyosen, strike a mine at Truk and sunk in January 1944 and stricken on 92 Feburary 1944.
Gross tonnage 2,427 tons, under deck 2,030 tons, netto tonnage 1,425 tons and as dimensions 284.5 c 42.0 x 23.2 x 10 (light)-20 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, horsepower 181 nhp, coal bunker capacity 341 tons, range 4,800 nautical miles/10 knots and speed 10 (normal cruising)-12.5 (maximum) knots.
