Swedish aircraft cruiser performing well during tests according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 26 January 1935

An item reported that a new type airplane cruiser which was the first of her kind executed with success several tests. She was to be added to the Swedish navy after performing excellent. Military and maritime experts stated that the Gothland was the latest development of cruisers fitted out with aircraft. She was armed with anti aircraft guns, torpedo tubes, mine laying equipment and 8 aircraft taking off which the aid of catapults and bale to land on her flight deck. The armament consisted of 6-6”guns., 4 heavy anti aircraft machine guns and 6 especially constructed torpedo tubes. With a measurement of 5.000 tons was her speed 27,5 knots. The crew numbered 455 men included aircrew.(1)

1. Laid down by Götaverken, Gothenburg in 1930, launched on 14 September 1933, commissioned on 14 December 1935, decommissioned in 1956, stricken on 1 July 1960 and sold to be broken up in 1962. Standard displacement 4,750 tons.
