Dutch magazine Onze Vloot dated June 1936, p. 79, drawing by E.Th. Poppe
An item reported the movements of Japanese warships to new targets. The Commander of the Southern Expeditionary Fleet left with another 2 ships Saigon going to the east and was last sighted 200 miles north of Kuching, Serawak. The 7th Cruiser Squadron normally counting 2-6” Mogami-class cruisers left Camranh Bay going to the south and last sighted 240 miles north of the Natuna Islands. The J.I.C. commented that their destination appeared to be the Malaya-Borneo area to strenghten the forces there. The Commander Southern Expeditionary Fleet was probably to direct operations east and south of Singapore.
