An item reported that the the Russian Black Sea Fleet consisted in late 1941 of 1 modernized battleship (1), 5 cruisers includingg 2 new 7,000 tons). 28 destroyers, 50 submarines, 60 torpedo boats and a modern aircraft carrier carrying 38 aircraft. The J.I.C. commented that such relatively naval force would prevent important Axis operations in the Black Sea.
