Yugoslavian destroyers in April 1941

According to a letter dated Zagreb 4 November 1943 of the German embassy at Zagreb to the Department of an independent Croatia possessed the Royal Yugoslav Navy in 1941 several destroyers namely the 1,880 tons Dubrovnik, 1,210 tons Beograd, 1,210 tons Ljubljana and the 1,210 tons Zagreb. All ships were lying in the Bay of Kotor in April 1941 during the Italian invasion. The Zagreb was destroyed on 17 April, the other three taken over by the Italian navy. The Dubrovnik was renamed Premuda and was according to some tidings now sunk, the damaged Ljubljana was repaired and renamed Lubiana and sunk in 1943. (1)

Note

1. The Independent State of Croatia was established after Yugoslavia was captured by Italy and Germany on 10 April 1941. This state was first an Italian Protectorate between 1941-1943 and then a German puppet state between 1943-1945.
