Greek naval ranks as ordered by the king in 1833 according to Frederick Strong

Thanks to the fact that nowadays more and more books are digitized we are able to read books that are some times for decades no longer available for the public for several reasons. That's quite a pity while these books contains useful information while the archives are destroyed, incomplete or nor accessible.

P. 303: “The royal decree for the new organisation of the navy is dated 3/15 April, 1833; it establishes six grades of officers, besides the medical and administrative departments, which are as follows:
Vice-Admiral, Captain of 1st class, 2d class and 3d class, Lieutenant and Ensign or Midshipman.
Medical Officers: Surgeon 1st class and 2nd class and Surgeon’s mate.

Administrative Officers: Commissary 1st class and 2nd class, Provision Clerk.
The petty officers are classified as under: Boatswain, Sailing-Master, Gunner, Armourer, Carpenter, Storekeeper and Caulker.
And the sailors are divided into three classes, to which are added drummers, fifers, cooks, servants, and cabin-boys.”
