New dry docks in the USA according to the Dutch newspaper Het Nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 21 January 1914

The harbour board of New York decided finally to built a modern dry dock suitable to dock the largest transatlantic steamships with a maximum length of 1,000 feet. The Hamburg-Amerika Line, the International Marine and the Cunard Line stated at simultaneously to be willing to pay during a period of 20 years yearly 50,000 dollars for the use of the dock which was to be build at South Boston costs 750,000 dollars. Similar docks were build at Boston, Quebec and Halifax while the government decided to construct a dry dock at her new naval base at Pearl Harbour.
