New York, 22 June. The newspapers reported the arrival at Wilmington of the American goelette General Victoria. She was attacked on 18 May by a Spanish brig and two Spanish goelettes. During the battle tried the American to hitch on the brig with on board the Spanish commanding officer but which brig exploded taking away the bowsprit of the Mexican (American?) goelette who was at the same moment attacked by the other Spanish brig. The General Victoria managed to escape after being repaired sent her boats to the place of the exploded brig for survivors.
