Of the Unadilla-class. Laid down in 1861 and all ready launched on 21 October at the yard of G.B.&W.H. Goodspeed at East Hadden, Connecticut, USA, commissioned on 21 January a year later at the New York navy yard, decommissioned on 5 July 1865, a year stricken and sold on 13 June the same year at New York. Renamed Mariano served she as a merchant ship until at least in 1878.
With a displacement of 1691 tons and 507 tons burthen were her dimensions 158’ (waterline)- 28’x 9’6” or 48 x 8,5 x 2,90 metres and a depth of hold of 12’or 3,7 metres. The two horizontal back-acting engines supplied 2x200 ihp and while driving a single screw allowed a s peed of 10 knots. She was schooner-rigged with two masts. Her crew numbered 114 men. The armament consisted originally of 1-11”Dahlgren smoothbore gun, 2-24pdr smoothbore guns and 2-20pdr Parrott rifles.
