British naval movements according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 March 1823

London, 4 March. According to tidings from Portsmouth was Lord Exmouth appointed as commanding officer of a squadron which had as task to observe the French naval movements off the Spanish coasts. The frigate Active captain A. King arrived this morning coming from Jamaica. She left Jamaica 12 January, Vera Cruz 16 January and Cuba 2 February just 27 days ago.(1) When she departed Havana everything was well. A British squadron commanded by commodore Owen was expected with as task to protect the island.

1. A 38-gun 5th rate with a builders measurement of 1,058 tons and as dimensions 150 x 41’. She was launched at the Chatham dockyard 14 December 1799, renamed 15 November 1833 Argo and broken up in October 1860.
