The loss of the French corvette la Cornaline according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 7 March 1823

Paris, 2 March. The newspaper Moniteur dated today reported that the French corvette la Cornaline was wrecked off the Portuguese coast. (1)She left the island Aix on 20 January towards the Antilles and met all ready some days later strong wind squalls and finally stranded 2 February off Cape La Rogue at the entrance of the river the Taag, Portugal. According to the available details were 140 men killed due to being drowned, the cold, the fatigue, hunger or their wounds. One of the men who were killed was the treasurer of Martinique. The survivors were now at Lisbon.(2)

2. The Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 25 February reported earlier that she was lost calling her la Caroline with 400 men troops on board destined from Rochefort towards Martinique.
