Call sign UENQ, IMO no. 7414388 and MMSI 273136100. Designed for service in Arctic-Siberian waters during the winter. Part of the Kapitan Sorokin-class with as sister ships Kapitan Nikolaev, Kapitan Dranitsyn and Kapitan Khlebnikov. Owned by the Russian government but managed by Rosmorport at Primorskiy Kray, Russia. Her building at the Wärtsilä shipyard, Helsinki, Finland was ordered on 13 June 1974, she was laid down on 6. December 1975 with as yard number 411, launched on 10. December 1976 and handed over on 14 July 1977. With a displacement of 14,900 tons , a summer deadweight of 5,138 tons, a gross tonnage of 15,385 tons are her dimensions 122,48 (between perpendiculars)-129,39-131,90 (maximum) x 26,50-26,70 (maximum) x 12,30 metres. Her crew numbers 76 men although she has accommodation for 92 men. The six Wärtsilä-Sulzer 9ZL40/48 engines supplied 16,2 MW shaft horsepower allowing a speed of 8,8-18,75 knots. Her bow is in 1991 improved into a Thyssen-Waas profile for better ice braking performances.
