Dutch naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Overijsselsche Courant dated 3 August 1838

In an item dated Amsterdam 30 July was reported that the Dutch naval strength consisted on 1 July of the following ships and vessels. In active service were 9 frigates (included 3 guard ships), 7 corvettes (including one accommodation ship), 4 large brigs (including one accommodation ship), 2 small brigs, 3 steam ships, 2 transports, 1 training vessel, 13 gaff gunboats of each 5 guns and 25 gaff gunboats of each 3 guns. Totally personal strength 4,793 men. In non active service were 8 ships of the line, 13 frigates, 7 corvettes, 9 large brigs, 3 small brigs, 1 steamship and a large number of gaff gunboats.
