Naval shipbuilding at Vlissingen and Rotterdam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Groninger Courant dated 2 August 1803

According to an item dated Flushing 25 July was in the province Zealand a large naval defence force formed. At the navy yard at Flushing was continuous worked just like at the former East Indies Company at Middelburg where now for French account was build. Several boys of the city orphanage were voluntarily engaged in naval service.According to an item dated Rotterdam 27 July was the intention on Tuesday 2 august at 15.00 o’clock to launch the newly built frigate Irene. Further more was men continuous building or fitting out of other naval vessels.
