Danish East Asian Company replacing her steam ships by motor ships according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 17 September 1915

An item dated Copenhagen, Denmark 15 September reported that the Danish Ost Asiatische Compagnie decided to replace her steamships by large fast motor ships.(1) Ten of her steamships with a total cargo capacity of 75,000 tons were handed over to a new company. This company had a capital of 10.000.000 Danish crones in which the Ost Asiatische Compagnie had a share of 50%. The remaining 50% was in advance order offered to the shareholders of the latter company.

1. Probably the Det Øsasiatiske Kompagni (East Astiatic Company) founded by Hans Niels Anderson of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1897 starting with lines between Copenhagen, Bangkok (Thailand) and the Far East Area. Between 1916 and 1917 she had a subsidiary the Russian American Line for the North America shipping while in 1915 her subsidiary D/S A/S Orient started tramp activities from Copenhagen.
