American transport Toscana torpedoed according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 8 February 1918

An item reported that in the night of 5 February the American troop transport Toscania of the Anchor-line measuring 14,348 tons was torpedoed near the Irish coast. Of the 2,397 men on board were 210 men killed. The survivors arrived early in the morning of Wednesday Irish ports. An American officer, one of the survivors, stated that the Toscania was part of a huge convoy without supplying more details.
