Movements of the Turkish fleet in the Archipelago caccording to the Dutch newspaper De Avondbode 27 July 1838

An item dated Constantinople 4 July reported that the Turkish fleet commanded by grand admiral Achmed Fawzi Pacha consisting of 5 ships of the line, 7 frigates, 4 brigs and goelettes and one steamboat arrived on 28 June in the Sea of Marmora and after a stay of some days at Gallipoli departed towards the Archipelago for the ordinary patrolling. The Sultan wrote to some ambassador of European countries that they didn’t have to worry about the departure of the fleet which was only ordered to visit some islands.
