Russian tankers involved in accidents according to Dutch newspapers in 1935

The newspaper Tilburgsche Courant dated 23 March published an item dated Moscow 22 March which officially announced that on board of the tanker Stalin fire broke out. She was lying in Patju and loaded with 10,000 tons gasoline when the fire broke out in the engine room probably of being careless, Four men died. The fire was extinguished.

The newspaper De Banier dated 1 June published an item referring to tidings received from Moscow dealing with the disaster on board of the Russian petrol tanker Azerbajdzjan. On board were 29 people (including four family member of sailors) of which just two persons were saved as a result of the fire which broke out.

Another newspaper De Tijd dated 4 November reported that year a second disaster on board of a Russian tanker. She referred to an item dated Moscow 3 November reporting that when a tanker was loading petrol at Krasnovodsk (Caspian Sea) she exploded and sunk within some minutes. The number of casualties was still unknown at that moment although feared was that all men were killed.
