Soviet navy changing shipbuilding policy view according to the Dutch newspaper Amigoe di Curacao dated 16 December 1958

An item reported that that according to the famous Jane’s Fighting Ships the building of submarines in the Soviet Union had been less progressive during the last two years earlier as earlier was expected. It was believed that nowadays the shipbuilding more was concentrated on faster and heavier armed units. The same magazine claimed that except for the USA the Soviet navy was the largest of the world and that it possessed of around 500 submarines.
