Tanker Ceronia damaged due to mine explosion according to the Dutch newspaper De Indische Courant dated 7 February 1940

An item dated The Hague 6 February reported that the tanker Ceronia arrived at Downs despite her damage caused by a mine explosion. Her captain states that no one on board was hurt.(1)

The newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 29 January 1939 reported that she a day earlier was launched out of the concrete building dock with yardno. 665. Described as a 12.000 tons motor tanker and one of the four tankers now build by this yard for the Royal Shell. Her dimensions were 460’x 59’x 34’. The edition od the 26rg reported that her building was ordered in 1938.
