Battleship still backbone of US fleet according to the Dutch newspaper Limburger koerier dated 28 February 1925

An item dated Washington 27 February reported that admiral Sims (1) in the meeting or the aviation commission of the House of Representatives the member Perkins (2) answered that the battleship remained the backbone of the fleet.

1. The in October 1922 retired admiral William Sowden Sims (15 October 1858 Port Hope, Ontario, Canada-25 September 1936 Boston, Massachusetts)? He was interested in modernizing the US navy. In 1919 he collided with the secretary of navy Josephus Daniels about a failing naval policy.
2. Probably Randolph Perkins (30 November 1871-25 May 1936). Republican politician, represented New Jersey between 1921 and 1936.
