French naval air service fitted out with Avro Lancasters according to the Dutch newspaper De Heerenveensche koerier dated 25 January 1952

An item reported that a begin was made with the delivery of 54 Avro Lancasters ordered by the French naval air service. The planes were to be stationed in French North Africa for supporting the British RAF Coastal Command in protecting the North and South Atlantic supply lines and shipping routes. The Avro plant were now converting these heavy bombers into common use reconnaissance aircraft. For see rescue services were beneath the hull life-boats fixed which could be released.
