Dutch frigate ship Doctrina et Amicitia homeward bound according to the Dutch newspaper Javasche Courant dated 29 August 1840

An item reported that the fast Dutch frigate ship Doctrina et Amicitia captain D. Zweers would depart against half September towards the Netherlands. With a skilled doctor on board. For more details could be asked at Jan Ter Meulen jr.(1)

1. According to the website http://www.scheepsindex.nl/schip.php?i=3520 built in 1839 at Amsterdam for A.L. van Harpen&Zn in Amsterdam, renamed Amicitia in 1862 and apparently sold to Norway. The newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 23 July 1839 reporting that on Thursday 25 July at 14.00 o’clock the launching of this frigate ship at the shipyard de Haan, Groote Bikkerstraat, Amsterdam by shipbuilder J.R. Boelen was planned. The newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche courant dated 17 June 1846 reported that on an auction on Monday 15 June in Amsterdam the sale of 2/80 shares not was executed. Captain was H.A. Villerius.
