An item reported that in Singapore a concept program for five years was made dealing with a own navy for Malacca for coast guard duties. The expenses for 1950 were estimated to be 1.000.000 Strait dollars. An aged radio station in Woodlands, Johore Strait was to became naval base and from the British Royal Navy were motorboats and landings crafts to be bought. In 1949 was the personnel strength to be 400 men. The newspaper Het nieuwsblad voor Sumatra dated 26 July confirmed the item that the personnel strength was to be 400 men instead of the 150 men first estimated. British officers and advisors were asked to serve in the new navy. In the meantime was already a training ship and a frigate purchased from the Royal British navy.
