British floating batteries useless against new Armstrong guns according to the Dutch newspaper Schager Courant dated 1 December 1859

An item dated London 21 November reported that the Defence commission concluded after executing experiments that the floating batteries, now berthed at Chatham, were no match for the guns manufactured by Armstrong. The decision was made to built no longer vessels of this kind.
