British Royal Navy dislocating according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1934 no. 4

An item referred to the magazine M.R. dated April 1934 reporting that the British Royal Navy was dislocating her ships. The HMS Hawkins (1) flagship of the East Indies station was to be replaced in March 1935 by the HMS Norfolk (2) coming from the West Indies station. The new 1.110 ton sloops which were to be commissioned in the second half of 1934 were to be divided: HMS Grimsby (3) to Hong Kong to replace the HMS Cornflower (4) as a drill ship of the R.N. Volunteer Defence Force, the Leith (5) to New Zealand and the Lowestoft (6) to China. The cruisers Sussex (7) was to attend the centennial celebrations of the state Victoria and then to detached for a year with the Australian navy. The HMAS Canberra (8) was to serve in the Mediterranean.

1. Launched at the Chatham Dockyard on 1 October 1917 and sold in 1947 to be broken up.
2. Launched at the shipyard of Fairfield on 12 December 1928 and sold in 1950 to be broken up.
3. Launched at the Devonport Dockyard on 19 July 1933 and lost on 25 April 1941 due to an Italian aircraft attack off Tobruk.
4. Launched at the shipyard of Barclay Curle on 30 March 1916, sold in 1940 and afterwards renamed Tai Hieng but the same year bought back retaining her old name back and sunk on 15 December 1941 due to a Japanese air attack at Hong Kong.
5. Launched at the Devonport Dockyard on 9 September 1933 and sold on 25 November 1946 and renamed Byron. Later she became the Danish naval survey ship Galathea.
6. Launched at the Devonport Dockyard on 11 April 1934 and sold in 1946 and renamed Miraflores.
7. Launched at the shipyard of Hawthron Leslie on 22 February 1928 and sold in 1950 to be broken up.
8. Of the Royal Australian Navy. Launched at the shipyard of J. Brown on 31 May 1927 and sunk on 9 August 1942 after she was torpedoed by Japanese torpedoes or damaged by an accidentally torpedo fired by the USS Bagley during the Savo Island Battle. She was scuttled and torpedoed by the USS Ellet when is was clear that she could not be repaired.
