Indonesia bought cargo ships from the Soviet Union according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 18 March 1959

An item reported the arrival of 10 Soviet cargo ships each of around 1.000 gross register tons bought by the Indonesian cabinet. They arrived empty with mixed crews of men and women. Accord to rumours were negotiations going if these ships could be paid via the 100 million dollars loaned by the Soviet Union to Indonesia. Five of the ships anchored on the roads, the along the wharf of the Dutch shipping companies.
