Soviet ships visiting Shanghai, China for repaires according to the Dutch newspaper Soerabaijasch Handelsblad dated 7 March 1941

An item dated Shanghai the 6th reported that according to the newspaper China Press at the end of the week five Soviet ships would be berthed in the port. At that moment were already the Sinolnyi, Komiles and Psitchevaia Industria there and the Sovet and Maxim Gorki were now underway from Vladivostok. While the port of Vladivostok was overcrowded and the ships needed repairs was chosen for Shanghai.(1)

Note
1. Shanghai was since 1937 until 1945 occupied by the Japanese forces. On 13 April 1943 singed both countries a Neutrality Pact for a period of five years. On 8 August 1945 declared the Soviet Union war on Japan followed the next day by a large Soviet offensive.
