An item reported that four of the five German ships which sought refuge in Padang were seized by a law office of Padang for outstanding receivables. While the German consul negotiated about their release were the ships in the meantime guarded. Also in Sabang were German ships seized. There it concerned ships of the Hansa line, HAPAG and the Norddeutschen Lloyd. The seizure was a result of the [not yet paid?] delivery of coal.
