American nuclear submarine USS Providence (SSN-719) 1979-

Of the Los Angeles-class submarines. The Electric Boat Division (General Dynamics Corporation), Groton, Connecticut, USA was on 16 April 1979 ordered to built her. Keel not earlier laid down on 14 October 1982, was she launched on 4 August tow years later by Mrs. William F. Smith, handed over on 26 June 1985 and commissioned on 27 July. She is also indicated as a VLS submarine meaning that’s she is fitted out with the Vertical Launch System for Tomahawk missiles. Identification number UIC 21029. With a displacement of 403 long tons/409 tons (dead0-5.781 long tons/5.875 tons (light)-6.184 long tons/6.283 tons (full) are her dimensions 110,3 x 10 x 9,4 metres or 361’11” x 32’10” x 30’10”. Speed 20 (surfaced)-20 (submerged) knots. Her crew numbers 110 men. The armament includes 4-21”/53,3cm bow torpedo tubes, Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles and mines.
