Russian merchant ships seized at Constantinople, Turkey according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 2 August 1823

Odessa, 9 July. The four Russian ships which were released at Constantinople still didn’t arrive at Odessa. According to some persons this was caused by the protests of their masters against the violent treatment and the order to return homewards. They still wanted to continue their voyage to the Black Sea and were supported in their protest by the European ambassadors because they suffered all ready severe.
