Greek and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 3 February 1826

Zante, 2 January. Ibrahim decided after some defeats to attack for the last time Missolunghi and laid a siege. The siege became more and more severe due to the fact the Greek squadrons left the scene. The defence works were prepared including batteries in case the Greek fleet, commanded by Miaulis, with strength of 50 ships would appear. The Turkish fleet commanded by the Captain Pasha fled as usual when sighting the flag with the cross, so making it Miaulis able to disembarked 1.00 men at Wassilades. The Turkish attack on Missolunghi 27 December was without any success, being discouraged by the Greek squadron.
