Dutch steam tug Dockyard IX 1940-

On stocks on 27 March 1940 at the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschapij (RDM), Netherlands with yard number 226, launched on 26 November, trials on 15 January 1942 - although on 2 December 1941 already delivered to the yard-  and completed in 1942. Part of a series of 8 tugs destined for the Russian harbour Murmansk but due to the outbreak of the Second World War never delivered. This steam tug was not earlier as 1978 decommissioned and then presented by her owner RDM to the maritime museum at Rotterdam, Netherlands. With a displacement of 230 tons are her dimensions 25,06 x 6,31 x 3,99 (hold) metres. The -so-called RDM Scottish boiler was in 1995-1996converted from coal-firing into oil-firing. The RDM double compound Lentz valves engine supplied at 210 rpm 500 ihp.
