Naval force commanded by Lord Cochrane underway to Greece to help the Greek retain their against the Ottoman empire according to the Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant dated 17 July 1826

An item dated Frankfurt, Germany the 10th reported that Lord Cochrane left Falmouth on 12 May on board of the schooner of war Porcupine armed with 20 guns and a crew of 120 British sailors bound for Greece. In the meantime he was joined by two steamboats each armed with 4-24pd guns and 2-68 pd guns cast according to a new model and two in France built corvettes of 20-24 guns crewed mostly with Dutch sailors. From the USA were 4 armed steamboats and some warships including a 60-gun frigate underway also to join this force. The USA and general Lallemand (1) contributed much by outfitting the latter ships. The Greek possessed 30 brigs of war each measuring more as 400 tons.
