Her building at the shipyard of Bath Iron Works was ordered on 21 November 1983, laid down on 21 November 1983, launched on 12 May 1984 and commissioned on 21 September 1985. Homeport NS Norfolk, Virgiania, USA. Of the Oliver Hazard Peryy-class. Motto War ready to preserve Peace and nicknamed Hammerin’ Hank or USS Hellrod.
With a displacement of 4.100 long tons/4.200 tons are her dimensions 138 x 14 x 6,7 metres or 453’ x 45’x 22’. The 2-General Electric LM2500-30 gas turbines delivred 31MW/41.000 bhp allowing a speed of 29 knots while with a reduced speed of 18 knots she has a range of 5.000 nautical miles. The crew numbers 205 persons excluded the 21 belonging to the 2 SH-60B Lamps III helicopters (maintenance) personnel she can carry with her. The armament consisted of 1-7,6cm OTO Melara Mk. 75 gun, 2-Mk 32 triple 32,4cm torpedo tubes, 1-Mk. 15 Vulcan Phalanx CIWS and 4-0.50” machine guns.
