Danish navy asked for more budget to strengthen herself according to tge Dutch newspaper wanted De Volksvriend dated 13 January 1876
An item reported that proposals were sent to the Danish parliament dealing with the strengthening of the navy asking for a budget of 20 million crones excluded the ordinary budget of 5 million crones and the budget for the maritime fortifications. To complete the armoured floating battery Helgoland and the laying down of another two such sea castles was 14.110.000 crones needed. Furthermore was 1.600.000 crones needed to built a torpedo ship and 60.000 crones for a large enamoured corvette which was to replace a frigate earlier that year decommissioned. In the meantime were already 3 gunboats and a steam-built steam launch added to the fleet. The intention was to found a maritime engineering corps of 95 officers and 270 men. The Danish navy counted 31 (?) admirals, 35 captains, 64 1st lieutenants, 20 2nd lieutenants and 320 non-commissioned officers.
