French submarine Vendémaire sunk in collision battleship St. Louis according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 11 June 1912

An item referred to tidings received from Cherbourg, France reporting that the French battleship St. Louis collided with the French submarine Vendémaire (1) causing the sinking of the latter to a depth of 170 feet. Her a crew of 26 men. She and other submarines were preparing for an exercises in attacking when she was rammed. Another Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf dated 8 June reported that she was presumably cut into two halves.

Displacement 398 (surfaced)- 550 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 51,12 x 4,97 x 3,04 metres. Speed 12,30 (surfaced)-8 (submerged) knots. Diving depth 35 metres. Her crew numbered 25 men. The armament consisted of 1-45cm/17.7” bow torpedo tube and 4 external launching cradles and 8 torpedoes.
