French navy officers against fitting out of the major warships with torpedo nets according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 3

An item reported that despite a large part of the French navy officer was against was decided to fit out all large warships with torpedo nets. The opponents feared that during a battle when the nets were damaged loose parts were continuously a danger for sticking the screws. It was claimed that the nets were mainly to be fitted to support the crews mentally instead of being a protection against incoming torpedoes.
