Russia interested in building heavy battleship in the USA according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1937 no. 4

An item referred to the magazine U.S.R. dated 13 May 1937 reporting that Russia intended to built a battleship with as main armament 40,6cm guns but that American shipyards were not interested. The US Government forbade however the export or designs and parts of such a ship claiming referring to the neutrality laws.(1)

1. Project 23 or Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleships had as main armament 3x3-40.6cm guns. Never completed.
